Despite challenging weather conditions for gardeners this year, the Melplash Agricultural Society annual garden competition was once again very well supported. Over two days the judges travelled across West Dorset visiting seventeen gardens in and around Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Chideock, Beaminster, Mosterton and of course Bridport. (Entries have to live within 15 miles of Melplash Village Church). The judges this year were last year’s overall winner and winner of the medium-sized garden, Mrs Jane Pinkster from Beaminster and the winner of the allotment category, Mr John Studley from Hinton St George.
