Ridden Hunters

RIDDEN HUNTERS  

The Town Mayor will present C2 - The Perpetual Challenge Bowl for the Ridden Hunter Champion in the Main Ring at approximately 10am

Entry Fee:  Classes 1, 2, 3 & 5, Member:  £12; Non-Member £14.

Prize Money:  1st £17; 2nd £15; 3rd £12. Please note Entry Fee below includes £9.50 HOYS contribution

Entry Fee: Classes 4, 6 & 7, Member:  £25; Non-Member £30

Prize Money: Classes 4, 6 & 7 1st £30; 2nd £25; 3rd £15 

Entries Close:  Friday 18th July 2008

Late entries will be taken up to the 17th August, at the Secretary's discretion provided an extra £10 is included.  It is to be understood that the entry cannot be in the Catalogue & the entry is a Member of the SHB(GB). 

MAIN RING Start 7.30am.  Limited to the first 30 entries in each class. 

Judges: Classes 2, 3, 4, 6, & 7 :  Miss J Owen, Basingstoke, Hants (Ride)

Classes 1 & 5:  Mr R Sharp, Devizes, Wilts (Ride)

All Classes:  Mr B Higham, Badminton, Glos (Conformation) 

Judged under SHB (G.B.) rules.SHB(GB) require all entries in the Hunter Classes to be registered with the exception of Class 1.For measurement conditions - see Rule 8.The judges are not obliged to ride all entries.

 

Class

1 Local Hunter.   This is a local class - see Rule 6.Novice Hunters must not have won a prize of £10 or over before the closing date of entries.    Exhibitors to state on entry form if Hunter is eligible to compete for additional  Novice Prize.   Riders of Novice Hunters to provide own white arm bands to assist the judge.  Horses need not be registered with SHB (GB). 

2          Lightweight Hunter:   Mare or Gelding, 4 years old or over, capable of carrying up to 79.5kgs (12 stone 7lbs).  

3          Heavyweight Hunter:   Mare or Gelding, 4 years old or over, capable of carrying over 89kgs (14stone). 

4          Small Hunter. Horse of the Year Show Qualifier.   Any Mare or Gelding, 4 years old      or over exceeding 148cm (14.2hh approx) but not exceeding 158cm (15.2hh approx).  A horse, which is registered as a Small Hunter, cannot compete in an Open Weight Class. 

5          Novice Working Hunter.   Mare or Gelding, 14.2hh (148ms) and over.   4 years old and over.  Not to have won First Prize of £50 or a total of £200 in prize money in working hunter classes, or more than 25 British Eventing Points or £200 BSJA at home or abroad before 1st January 2007. (Fences not to exceed 3'3" feet.)  (This class will be in Ring 2 & 3 NOT before 12.00 noon).  

6          Ladies Hunter - Horse of the Year Show Qualifier.  Mare or Gelding, 4 years old or over, to be ridden by a lady, side saddle.  

Classes 4, 6 & 7 are qualifiers for THE HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW 8 - 12 October 2008.  Under the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain Show Regulations 2008 General Rules, only horses registered on the 2008 Show Hunter Register are eligible to enter.  Registration Numbers must be quoted on entry forms and owners and riders must be members of the Society.   The highest placed horse in each class will qualify to enter at the HOYS unless it has already done so, in which case the second horse will go forward.  No horse lower than second will qualify. In Class 7, Working Hunter, the highest placed horse will qualify to enter at the HOYS unless it has already done so, in which case the second horse will go forward unless it has already done so in which case the third horse will go forward.  No horse lower than third place will qualify.   The Side Saddle Association offers a Special Rosette to the highest placed Member riding Side Saddle in Class 6. CHAMPIONSHIP - The judging of the Ridden Hunter Championship will take place after Class 6 for the Prize Winners in Classes 2, 3, 4 and 6.

 Classes 4, 6 & 7 are qualifiers for THE HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW October 2008.  Under the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain Show Regulations 2004 General Rules, only horses registered on the 2008 Show Hunter Register are eligible to enter.  Registration Numbers must be quoted on entry forms and owners and riders must be members of the Society.  Only the first placed horse will qualify.  No horse lower than 2nd will qualify. The Side Saddle Association offers a Special Rosette to the highest placed Member riding Side Saddle in Class 6. CHAMPIONSHIP - The judging of the Ridden Hunter Championship will take place after Class 6 for the Prize Winners in Classes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6.

 

The Blue Chip & IDHS(GB) £2000 Challenge - The qualifier from each of the following classes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 15 & 16 will be the highest placed horse (not already qualified) that is registered  or eligible for registration on the Irish Draught or Iright Draught Sport Horse Register, ie. with a minimum of 25% proven Irish Draught breeding.  The horse need not be registered to qualify but MUST be on the IDHS(GB) registers by the time of the Championship which will be held at the IDHS(GB) Annual Breed Show on 17th September 2006 at the Lincolnshire Showground.  Each Qualifier will receive a rosette and £10 voucher from Blue Chip.  IN THE FINAL,l the Champion will be awarded £1,000 in prize money plus a Trophy and a Blue Chip rug, the Reserve Champion will be awarded £500 and 3rd to 7th inclusive will be awarded £100 each. In addition, £100 prize money plus a Trophy will be awarded to the highest placed Pure Bred and a Trophy to the highest placed Under 15.2hh.

 

 7          Working Hunter - Horse of the Year Show Qualifier.   Mare or Gelding, 4 years old or    over.   Height exceeding 14.2h.h. (148cms).   Registration numbers must be quoted on entry forms and owners and riders must be   members of the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain. Competitors will be required to come forward in catalogue order and to jump minimum of 8 and maximum of 12 fences  with max. height of 3'9".  Grade A Show Jumpers and Advanced Event Horses not allowed.   

C2  -     Perpetual Challenge Bowl, given by the Townspeople of Bridport, for the Ridden            Hunter Champion.  First and Second Prize Winners in Ridden Hunter Section eligible.

S5 -   The Mark Williams Memorial Perpetual Challenge Trophy,  presented by Mrs.Mark Williams, for the Best Local Hunter, Class 1.

S6  -   The H. T. Puley Memorial Perpetual Challenge Cup for the Best LocalHunter (Class 1), which has hunted with the Seavington Hunt in the past season.

S7  -     D.H. Morey Memorial Perpetual Challenge Trophy, presented by Mrs. Morey and Family, for the Best Working Hunter, Class 7.

S8  -     The Countryside Alliance offer a Medallion to the Best Working Hunter, provided the owner is a member of the Countryside Alliance or to the best of the first six horses whose owner is a member of the Countryside Alliance. 

The Melplash Agricultural Society offer a prize for the Best Light and Heavyweight Hunter in Classes 2 & 3. 

The Cleveland Bay Society offer a Rosette to the best Cleveland Bay exhibit in Class 2 & 3. 

Shaw & Co Solicitors, Three Indian Kings House, 31 The Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 3DE, specialist equine lawyers have presented a prize of £50 and Sash for the best turned out Cleveland Bay exhibit entrant in Classes 2 & 3. 

Battens the Jewellers have generously donated a Photo Frame to the winner of Class 6.
