RIDING HORSES & HACKS 

Hacks - Ring 3, following Working Hunter Pony

Riding Horses - Rings 2 & 3 - not before 11.30 

Please note Entry Fee below includes £9.50 HOYS contribution

Entry Fee:  Classes, 18 & 19, 20 & 21  Member £25, Non-Member £30

Prize Money:  1st £30; 2nd £20; 3rd £15 

Entry Fee:  Class 17  Member £12; Non-Member £14

Prize Money:  1st £17; 2nd £15; 3rd £12 

Judges Riding Horses & Hacks:  Miss L Szutowicz, Cheltenham, Glos (Riding)

Mrs J Stephens, Pershore, Worcs (Conformation)   

Entries in these classes are held under the rules and jurisdiction of the British Show Horse Association who present Award of Merit, Young Rider and Amateur rosettes to 8th place.  Only one rosette in any one category may be presented in any one season.  Entries are confined to registered horses to be owned and ridden by members of the BSHA.  Non members may purchase up to a maximum of two "Day Tickets" per exhibitor, per horse, per season.  A day ticket will allow entry into the Novice affiliated classes only, but not RIHS and HOYS qualifying classes.  Horses registered using the "Day Ticket" DO NOT require a JMB Height Certificate until full registration.  

17         NOVICE RIDING HORSE mare or gelding, exceeding 14.2hh (148cms), 4 years old and over, which has not won a first prize of £25 or more or more than a total of £100 in any showing classes which were affiliated to the Association, at home or abroad, prior to 1st January 2008.  Winnings gained as a 4 year old are excepted unless that 4 year old has won an open class.  If the category has changed from a Hack to a Riding Horse, it may not revert back to a Novice if it has won a first prize of £25 or more than £100 in any showing classes affiliated to the Association at home or abroad prior to 1st January 2008.  Snaffle bridles may be worn for this class.           

18         HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW QUALIFIER 2008.  SMALL RIDING HORSE mare or gelding, exceeding 148cms but not exceeding 158cms.  Four years old and over.   

19         HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW QUALIFIER 2008.  LARGE RIDING HORSE mare or gelding, exceeding 158cms.  Four years old and over.  

20         HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW QUALIFIER 2008.  SMALL HACK mare or gelding, exceeding 148cms but not exceeding 154cms.  Four years old and over. 

21       HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW QUALIFIER 2008.  LARGE HACK mare or gelding, exceeding 154cms but not exceeding 160cms.  Four years old and over.  

The three highest placed in Classes 18 & 19 will qualify to compete in the Classic Supreme Riding Horse classes at the National Championship Show in September.

The three highest placed in Classes 20 & 21 will qualify to compete in the Classic Supreme Hack classes at the National Championship Show in September.

Classes 18, 19, 20 & 21 are HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW QUALIFIERS - 8th - 12th October 2008 when the first in each class will qualify. If the first has already qualified, the second will qualify. If the first and second have already qualified then the third will qualify and so forth to 5th place. No horse lower than 5th place may qualify.

The Melplash Agricultural Society will award a Champion & Reserve Champion Rosette to the Best Riding Horse. !st & 2nd prize winners in classes 17, 18 & 19 will be eligible.
