Philip & Sue Crawford – Overall Winners of the 2014 Garden Competition.

The Melplash Agricultural Society’s annual garden and allotment competition is open to all residents within a 12 mile radius of Melplash Village Church.  Gardens and allotments of any size can be entered and there are prizes for the best large, medium and small garden and best allotment as well as an overall winner.   The only stipulation is that they must not employ a gardener for more than 8 hours per week.   This year there were 16 gardens and allotments entered. The judging took place over two days and was undertaken by last year’s winners: Mr and Mrs Nigel and Catherine Lee from Salway Ash, who were overall winners and winners of the medium garden category and Mrs Linda Lambert, winner of the small garden category. They were accompanied by the Melplash Agricultural Society President – Mrs Helen Carless, and the Society’s Chairman – Brigadier John Dean. The Stewards were Section Chairman, Mr Peter Yeates and past Chairman, Mr Clifford Pitcher.
