Nearly 6 months have elapsed since I was elected as Chairman of the Show and as we speed  through June things are coming to a head and the realisation that the Show is only some 8 weeks away becomes a stark reality.

The annual Melplash Agricultural Society’s Garden Competition once again provided an opportunity for gardeners in the area to gain recognition for their gardens.  Although the entries were slightly down this year, 17 people entered the competition divided into three categories, large, medium and small.  The judging took place on 15/16th June, and was judged by last year’s overall winner, and winner of the large garden category, Mr Brian Prentice of Litton Cheney, together with Mr Philip Symes.

In closing my two years in office, I would like to review the progress made in that time. The biggest single step was incorporation, but I am glad that this has now been achieved. The removal of the prospect of huge financial burden on individuals is a great relief. I thank particularly, Nigel Jones and Sharyn Brown for their hard work in pushing this through.

The winners of the VIP Day out at 2010 Melplash Agricultural Society Show to be held on Thursday 26th August are Mr & Mrs Mayall from Reading.
 
They have won admission to the Show for two people, a Show Programme, access to the Members Marquee and a 2 course lunch in the Members' Restaurant.
 
The Draw took place at on Saturday 12th September at this year's Hedging & Plough Match.

The Melplash Agricultural Society Show is the South West's premier agricultural exhibition and is held at The West Bay Showgrounds, Bridport, Dorset on last Thursday before the August Bank holiday. The first show was held in 1847.
