Garden Competition
The annual Melplash Agricultural Society’s Garden Competition once again provided an opportunity for gardeners in the area to gain recognition for their gardens. Although the entries were slightly down this year, 17 people entered the competition divided into three categories, large, medium and small. The judging took place on 15/16th June, and was judged by last year’s overall winner, and winner of the large garden category, Mr Brian Prentice of Litton Cheney, together with Mr Philip Symes.
Clifford Pitcher, The Society’s Horticultural Section Chairman, commented “I look forward to the garden competition every year. It is a privilege to see the results of local gardeners’ hours of hard work, this year not helped by the late season. The colour and diversity of all the gardens was really impressive and judging was as difficult as ever. I would like to congratulate the winners and thank all of those that entered this year’s competition, and take the opportunity to urge more of you to take up the challenge next year. My grateful thanks also go to the judges who gave up their time and took on the difficult task of choosing the winners.”

Large Garden – The Winner of this Class is awarded with The Fowler Rose Bowl, presented by Mr & Mrs David Fowler.

Small Garden – The Winner of this Class is awarded with The Melplash Agricultural Society Shield.

The prizes will be awarded at this year’s Melplash Show being held on Thursday 26st August.
