Norman Michelle Jones Southover Portland Sheep (2) (3)

Every year the Melplash Agricultural Society holds a Flock competition to reward local farmers for their shepherding skills and flock management.  There are three classes:

Large Flocks – 301 ewes and over

Medium Flocks – 51 – 300 ewes

Small Flocks – 15 – 30 ewes

The Judge this year for the large flocks was Mr Mark Blakeney from Mere, Wiltshire and for the small and medium flocks,  Mr Mike Mouland from Chard.  The Sheep Section Chairman, Mr Ian Andrews, expressed his grateful thanks to the judges and praised the fifteen farmers who took time out of their busy lives to enter.
