On Saturday 10th August, Marshwood Vale Young Farmers Club are pulling a one ton 1964 Massey Ferguson tractor 8 miles from Melplash, the site of the original Melplash Agricultural Show to the current showground at West Bay in aid of Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
Starting at 10:30 am at the Half Moon in Melplash, a twenty-strong group made up of the Marshwood Vale Young Farmers tug-of-war team and other club members will pull the tractor through Oxbridge, Waytown, Pymore, down Victoria Grove and into Bridport. It will then pass down South Street to the showground, with a collection for the Air Ambulance being taken en route.
As well as raising vital funds for the air ambulance the event is aimed at raising awareness of the Young Farmers Clubs, an organisation for young people aged between 10 and 26, and will also promote the Melplash Agricultural Show which happens this year on Thursday 22nd August- who are kindly supporting the pull.
If you miss the event, the Young Farmers will be doing a lap of the Main Ring and a collection on Melplash Show day with the tractor in tow! Anyone interested in joining the Young Farmers should contact James Billen on 07881 385850. Please visit www.justgiving.com/marshwoodyfc if you would like to make a donation or sponsor the team.
