Discover Farming is the education programme run and managed by the Melplash Agricultural Society with the aim of promoting and improving agriculture and horticulture in West Dorset for the public benefit.

The Melplash Agricultural Society believes passionately that it is vitally important for the ‘next generation’ to understand the roles that farming and agriculture play in the national and local economy and the environment.  At a time of great technological change, the Society wishes to inspire the younger generation to take up careers in this exciting industry, not only in farming but also other rural industries.   Discover Farming was launched in 2015 to inform, educate and enthuse young people.

The Discover Farming Programme is run by a small team who are passionate about delivering the Discover Farming message.  They are committed to helping to educate children about food, farming and the environment and to encourage them to consider pursuing a career in agriculture and the rural economy.
