Izzy Minshall is studying Agriculture with Animal Science at Harper Adams. She is starting in September 2020
“I shall be starting my first year at Harper Adams in September studying Agriculture with animal science.
Although I am not from an immediate farming family, my grandparents were farmers and I love the farming life. After leaving Woodroffe School I attended Kingston Maurward to study agriculture for 2 years – a 3- days a week course. When not at college I worked on various farms doing relief milking and other jobs. After gaining the Level 3 Diploma with distinction, I took a year out and went to New Zealand where I worked on a dairy milking 1500 cows! Since returning I have been working full time on a mixed dairy farm in the Marshwood Vale primarily assisting with the management of 150 Holstein Friesian cows including, milking, calving, foot trimming and young stock management. During this time, I have become particularly interested in herd management and the wider aspects of nutrition and genetics. The course I am taking at Harper Adams is Agriculture with animal science will further extend my knowledge in the industry and open more doors for me in the future.
