Luke Johnson is studying Veterinary Science and Medicine at Nottingham University
“I am a farmer’s son from the heart of the Marshwood Vale, located near Shaves Cross, my family run a progressive yet traditional mixed livestock farm. I am currently twenty years old and just about to enter my third year at the University of Nottingham studying a degree in Veterinary Science and Medicine.
Having grown up surrounded by animals I have always had an interest in their health and wellbeing, in particular farm animals, but it wasn’t until my work experience as a 14-year-old where I really set my sights of veterinary. I spent two weeks travelling around the Dorset countryside with our local farm vet and have not looked back since!
From the beginning of my studies Melplash Agricultural Society have been incredibly supportive and generous! Attending university for five years becomes very expensive, so I am extremely grateful for the backing I have received. With the veterinary course having lots of additional costs such as equipment and study materials I have found the funding extremely useful. I cannot thank the Society enough for their support!”
